So the Mulate’s claim to fame is that it is the original Cajun restaurant. We only really went to it because it was near the Convention Centre! Frankly, it was more, about the location and atmosphere than about the food, as it was kind of average but it gave us a chance to try the things that we had wanted to try and hadn’t had a chance to order yet. Andrea and Sean both got the oyster po-boy, Vanessa got a salad and gumbo, and I ordered the Muffaletta. (An Italian mixed meat sandwich with an “olive salad”) The really funny part (like Andrea’s shank, see post on Emeril’s NOLA) was that my bill came and my order read “1 Lunch Muff”. Ha ha ha.
Final Notes: Although this restaurant was just alright for me, I could imagine this being a wonderful place to come to reunite with family members in New Orleans. There’s a great dance floor and live music weekend nights!
