Every year, foodies across Canada (and all of you “don’t call me a foodie, I just like good restaurants” people) look forward to the release of one of the most prestigious and exciting lists of the year: Air Canada’s Top 10 Best New Restaurants. In 2019, this list is more coveted than ever.
The great reputation of this list could be attributed to the fact that Air Canada has a healthy budget, a respectable methodology, and beautiful photography and design. It may also be attributed to the fact that flipping through enRoute Magazine is one of the best (and only) things one can do during take-offs and landings. In any case, this list is always one that new restaurants want to be on, and a great answer to the question of where to eat at your Canadian arrival destination.

I’ve attended the Air Canada and enRoute Magazine Top 10 gala a few times now, and it’s really a delicious and heartwarming evening.
You could say I had the feeling the team at Arvi Restaurant in Québec City had a pretty good chance of winning, as they were the only ones I managed to snap a team photo of on the night of! However, I really think that all 10 of the restaurants had an excellent showing (with 3 from Toronto, being Donna’s, Dreyfus and Ten (who did end up coincidentally coming in 10th place)). My favourite bite of the evening however, had to go to Pluvio Restaurant + Rooms in Ucluelet, BC. What can I say? The flavours of my sometimes Vancouver Island home are incredibly nostalgic, and the owners are the sweetest. See the full list here, or go to my Instagram Stories highlights to see all of the restaurant offerings at the gala (if you’re on mobile).

By the way, the Air Canada Top 10 Best New Restaurants gala now offers limited tickets to the public! Make a note to look out for those tickets in September of next year.
