Best Pho in Toronto (GTA)

Tried and True:

  1. Pho Ngoc Yen: There are three locations (Mississauga, Etobicoke and Downtown Toronto) of this beloved Vietnamese restaurant. Some might consider them hidden gems, but not to their regulars who don’t need to be convinced. Potential drawback: The two not-downtown locations are not close to anything else at all.
  2. Vit Béo: This is a really cute space in Bloorcourt that has an edited menu of contemporary Vietnamese dishes that are all very fun takes on the classics (like shrimp toast!) The menu changes seasonally so if you like something, don’t miss out. Potential drawback: High top seating only, and limited.
  3. Lá Sen Vietnamese Cuisine: A very good Vietnamese restaurant serving some harder-to-find dishes (like Goi Bo Tai Chanh), set in a nice, fresh, environment. Potential drawback: Located in North York.
  4. Pho Ngon Dat Viet 2: A relatively new restaurant that’s growing a following in Kensington Market. Great options, fresh ingredients, generous portions. I have not tried their first location. Potential drawback: Washrooms are a long flight of stairs.
  5. Pho Tien Thanh: This is just a solid place to go to when you’re craving Vietnamese classics. Potential drawback: It is extremely casual.
  6. Cà Phê Rang: This is a pho restaurant that was created to be more contemporary and more “designed” than your typical shop. The dishes are pretty good, especially in the ways they use crunch and texture. Potential drawback: it’s lower on the list because the depth of flavour is less than some higher on the list, and some of the choices (such as very large, shallow bowls) are cooler than they are practical.
  7. Que Ling Vietnamese Cuisine: One of the oldest gems in Chinatown East, Que Ling has some of the best pho broth around, and some delicious Banh Cuon, Potential drawback: Literally no frills, and cash only.
  8. Pho Linh: An easy place for weeknight Vietnamese dinner. Potential drawback: Some of the dishes are a little rough around the edges but the flavours are great.

On My Radar:

  1. Lin Ahn Vietnamese Cuisine
  2. Pho Ha Noi
  3. Pho Metro
